Everything You need from the documentation for the construction of a power plant on a family home

Ilustration of solar power plant

Solar energy is sustainable, renewable and abundant. As the cost of solar energy for electricity generation falls every year, more and more citizens are switching to solar energy. Installing a solar power plant on the roof is a great way to energy independence. The process of installing a solar power plant can take up to several months, depending on several factors.

The process itself usually begins with the collection of information about the type of roof, roof surface, location and orientation of the building, electricity consumption of the building, leased power. Based on this data, the solar potential of the building is calculated and an offer is made for the solar power plant, and later the main electrotechnical solar power plant project.

1. Proof of legal interest – Proof of (co)ownership

It is necessary to prove that the investor is also the owner of the building or that he has a legal interest in the construction of a solar power plant for the needs of a family home. Ownership is proven by an extract from the land register, or by the Contract on the right to build in case of proof of legal interest if the investor is not the owner or co-owner.

2. Ownership of the accounting measuring point (OMM)

The number of the accounting measuring point is the unique identification number of each billing metering point, which consists of 10 digits and is located on the back of the electricity bill. The applicant of the solar power plant project must be the owner of the measeruing point (OMM) as well as the facility itself.

3. Valid proof of legality of the building

The facility on which the installation of an integrated solar power plant connected to the power grid is planned must have a valid proof of legality, i.e. the facility must be built on the basis of a building permit or other appropriate document in accordance with the construction law. Some of the valid proofs of legality, depending on the year of construction, can be: use permit, decision on construction conditions, confirmation of the main project, certificate for use, permit for use, construction permit, decision on the finished condition or the like. In order for the proof of legality to be a valid one must contain a stamp of validity, i.e. enforceability.

4. Information on the type and strength of the connection

One of the important factors in creating a solar power plant project on a family home is the power and type of connection. Information about the connection can be obtained directly from HEP or from the electricity authority. The maximum power of the power plant if it is a single-phase connection is 3.68 kW, and if it is a three-phase connection then the maximum power of the power plant can be up to the power leased by the supplier.

5. Information on electricity consumption

When sizing the size of a solar power plant, one of the most important factors is the household’s need for electricity, i.e. last year’s need (based on the invoice in kWh) as well as future consumption. For the purposes of precise design of the solar power plant, it is necessary to submit statements of accounts for the past 12 months or an energy card, as well as information on the planned introduction of new consumers for the purpose of estimating future consumption.

6. Information on the type and orientation of the roof

Depending on the needs of the investor, the area required for a particular solar power plant is determined. When sizing a solar power plant, the slope and orientation of the roof, shading and geographical location play an important role. The south side is ideal for building a solar power plant, while the north side is avoided due to insufficient exposure to sunlight. The east and west sides can also be used. Roofs with low load-bearing capacity or inadequate cover cannot be a base for a solar power plant.

7. Notification on the possibility of connection

After submitting the data and creating the main electrotechnical project of the solar power plant, the investor submits the request to HEP. After submitting the application, HEP issues a Notice on the possibility of connection if the characteristics of the power plant meet the requirements of the power grid, after which you can start building your solar power plant.

Application for tenders

If the co-owner of the building wants to apply for one of the tenders or public invitations, it is necessary to collect some additional documents.
